Leech Tishman Fuscaldo & Lampl Partner Confirmed by State Senate as Third PA Securities Commission Member
Steven Irwin begins term immediately following swearing in next week
HARRISBURG (Oct. 19) -- The Pennsylvania State Senate last night confirmed the appointment of Steven D. Irwin of Pittsburgh as the third member of the Pennsylvania Securities Commission, succeeding A. Richard Gerber of Penllyn, who retired.
Irwin, nominated this summer by Gov. Ed Rendell, is a partner in the Pittsburgh law firm of Leech Tishman Fuscaldo & Lampl, and sits on the firm’s management committee.
Before practicing law, he worked five years as legislative assistant to U.S. Sen. Arlen Specter and two years as law clerk to Judge Joseph F. Weis of the U.S. Third Circuit Court of Appeals, which sits in Philadelphia.
Irwin holds degrees from Harvard and the Georgetown University Law Center. He has lectured and published on a variety of legal subjects, as well as taught as an adjunct professor at the University of Pittsburgh. He is a Fellow of the Allegheny County Bar Foundation.
Irwin, married and the father of three, is active in Pittsburgh civic affairs, was chairman of the Pittsburgh Public Parking Authority and represented the city on the Southwestern Pennsylvania Commission. The U.S. Civil Rights Commission appointed him as one of twelve members of its Pennsylvania Advisory Committee. He is chairman of the Pittsburgh Council of the Anti-Defamation League. He is a past member of the Board of Trustees of the United Jewish Federation, chairing its Community and Public Affairs Council. A past president of Big Brothers Big Sisters of Greater Pittsburgh, Irwin remains on its Board of Directors. A competitive masters oarsman at the national and international levels, he is chairman of the Stewards of the Head of the Ohio, one of the nation’s largest single-day regattas.
