Ann C. Bertino is a member of the firm’s employment practice group, focusing on employee benefits. Ann has over thirteen years of experience advising clients - including plan sponsors, plan trustees, fiduciaries and third-party administrators in the ERISA aspect of employee benefit programs. She has consulted on qualified defined benefit, savings, profit-sharing and money purchase plans; welfare benefits plans (e.g. medical, life, disability, educational assistance, and severance) as well as fringe benefit programs.

Professional Experience
Assist clients in plan design and documentation, all aspects of legal compliance and implementation of benefit programs, and analysis of legislation and regulations requiring changes to the employee benefit plans
Represent clients faced with Internal Revenue Service and Department of Labor audits
Advise clients on voluntary corrections under the Employee Plans Compliance Resolution System and the Delinquent Filer Voluntary Compliance Program (DFVC)
Obtain determination letters, private letter rulings, and exemptions from prohibited transaction rules
Advise and assist clients with standard, distressed and Pension Benefit Guaranty Corporation (PBGC) initiated plan termination as well as compliance with PBGC reporting and disclosure requirements
Litigate federal actions involving ERISA issues on behalf of employers and third-party administrators for breach of fiduciary duty
Conduct compliance audits of employee benefit plans for plan sponsors to determine compliance with applicable law
Counsel employers on benefit issues involved in employment agreements
Conduct due diligence on pension and employee benefit programs prior to merger or acquisition
