Leech Tishman Hosts Office Auction to Benefit Cystic Fibrosis Foundation
Firm Lawyers Bid on Preferred Office Spaces in New Office, Slated to Open September 13, 2013
PITTSBURGH, PA – On Thursday, July 18, 2013, Leech Tishman hosted an office auction” to benefit fellow lawyer Jessica Ziemski’s fundraising efforts for the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. Starting in mid-September, Leech Tishman’s Pittsburgh office will occupy a new two-floor space in BNY Mellon’s 525 William Penn Place. This move and expansion will double the size of its existing space and provide opportunity for additional growth.
In keeping with its approach of uncommon business practices, the firm chose to eschew the traditional law firm mentality of assigning offices based on seniority or originations, and instead opted for a unique spin on apportioning the new space. With construction of the new office nearing completion, an office tour and department by department auction were held to enable partners, counsel and associates to bid on their preferred new “homes.” This successful fundraising effort rose over $5,000 for Jessica’s campaign.
Leech Tishman lawyer Jessica Ziemski, an associate in the firm’s Litigation and Employment Practice Groups, was recently chosen by the Western Pennsylvania chapter of the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation as one of “Pittsburgh’s 50 Finest.” Pittsburgh’s 50 Finest is an elite group of eligible men and women that are honored each year for their success and involvement in the Pittsburgh community. Jessica will be formally recognized for this honor at a gala held on August 15, 2013 at the Omni William Penn in Pittsburgh, PA and will also be featured in the August issue of WHIRL Magazine. Each of the 50 Finest honorees has committed to raising as much money as possible (a minimum of $2,500) in anticipation of the gala, which raises much needed funds for the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.
Cystic fibrosis (CF) is a genetic disease that affects approximately 30,000 young people in the United States, taking many of their lives before the age of 37. Since 1989, when researchers made the long awaited discovery of the gene that causes CF, incredible progress has been made that puts CF research at the brink of a cure. The Cystic Fibrosis Foundation is the world’s leader in the search for a cure for cystic fibrosis. The Foundation funds more cystic fibrosis research than any other organization, and nearly every CF drug available today was made possible because of Foundation support. Based in Bethesda, Md., the Foundation also supports and accredits a national care center network that has been recognized by the National Institutes of Health as a model of care for a chronic disease. The Cystic Fibrosis Foundation is a donor-supported nonprofit organization. For more information, go to www.cff.org.
