Greg Coticchia, the outgoing director of Pitt’s Blast Furnace, thinks that there’s a money problem in the local start-up ecosystem. In a recent interview with the Post Gazette, he said, “Some people say if you have a good business and a good product, you’ll find money, but that’s not true…We do have a problem in Pittsburgh with early stage funding.” When companies need a few million dollars, they look outside Pittsburgh.
