The Post Gazette reports that Pitt is launching a life sciences business accelerator in the Strip aimed at, among other things, “fostering the development of pharmaceutical and medical products and devices that combat cancer, Alzheimer’s disease and multidrug-resistant bacterial infections.” The Accelerator, LifeX, will be led by CEO Dietrich Stephan, and will be “a place where promising startup life science companies receive guidance and funding.” It is expected to be operational by March 1 with “an early stage investment fund of $25 million for startups in the accelerator’s laboratory facilities.”
