Alliance for Mergers & Acquisitions 2019 Symposium Series: Western PA Chapter
March 14 @ 8:00 am - 10:00 am
Leech Tishman Corporate Practice Group Partner Bruce Bowden serves on the Board of the Alliance of Merger & Acquisitions Advisors (Pittsburgh Chapter). This group is planning a four-part educational symposium series for 2019. The first seminar will be held on March 14.
Closely-held businesses represent a significant portion of the U.S. economy. Based on ownership demographics, it is estimated that $10 trillion in closely-held business assets will transition by 2040; however, the vast majority of owners lack advisors to recommend and implement proactive transition strategies. In this series you will learn innovative approaches to implement your business strategy: • Maximize the value of your business; • Evaluate strategic options to grow, re-cap, or sell; • Develop and retain key employees; • Prepare for transfer or transition of ownership; and • Tax strategies and legacy planning.
March 14: Strategic Option Analysis
A multitude of exit channels exist and it is imperative business owners understand the pros and cons of each. Often the exit channel the owners believe they will take initially is not how they end up exiting their business. For example, although selling a business to a third party often yields the highest sale price, a transitioning owner may place a higher value on legacy, employees, and community. There are a multitude of transition and transaction options available for family and non-family employees and shareholders. Learn how a thorough strategic option analysis can help owners minimize transition risk, negotiate higher sale prices, and make the deal process run more smoothly.
