Harry J. Nelson, Healthcare Chair and author of The United States of Opioids, was recently interviewed by LiveNOW from FOX following new reporting on the death of actress Hayden Panettiere.
Nelson discussed the decades-long rise in overdose deaths and the heightened vulnerability people can face after leaving addiction treatment. When asked about treatment facilities and discharge planning after addiction treatment, Nelson noted, “That’s one of the big responsibilities that the law imposes – that there be a real discharge plan in place and some follow-up.”
Nelson also discussed how drug investigations may examine not only dealers, but others who may have played a role in supplying or facilitating access to drugs, drawing comparisons to the investigation into Matthew Perry’s death.
