Healthcare Chair and firm Partner Harry J. Nelson recently appeared on the Bloomberg Law podcast episode titled “Trump Suggests Third Term & Tyler Skaggs Trial.” Nelson, author of The United States of Opioids, discusses the opioid-related death of Los Angeles Angels pitcher Tyler Skaggs and the Skaggs family’s wrongful death lawsuit against the team.
In the episode, Nelson explained, “We know that teams have a duty to protect players from foreseeable harm, and the question is really whether the harm in this case of drug use, of access to suppliers, was a foreseeable harm.”
Nelson noted that this case could have a significant impact on how sports teams are monitoring risks involving controlled substances.
