EL SEGUNDO, CA – October 24, 2019 – Leech Tishman is pleased to announce that West Coast Business & Employment Client Relations Partner Philip A. Toomey is on track to complete three major marathons in 2019- Boston (April 15), Chicago (October 13) and New York (November 3).
During all three marathons, Phil has raised funds for LIVESTRONG (“LS”). LS Foundation has multiple programs aimed to help those (and their families) that have been diagnosed with cancer. Some larger initiatives include the LSF Fertility Project (assisting those who will undergo cancer treatment that will alter their ability in the future to have children), LIVESTRONG at the YMCA (a program giving cancer survivors strength and rehabilitation services at YMCA’s located through the country), LS Cancer Institute at Dell Medical School (UT Austin), LIVESTRONG at School (helping children deal with concerns after a parent has been diagnosed) and Life After Diagnosis (helping people navigate the post-diagnosis world), as well as 1-2-1 counseling and support. Phil is a LS Leader, and an advocate in state and local government for funding of cancer initiatives.
As part of Phil’s fundraising efforts for the Chicago Marathon, he also raised funds for Back On My Feet (“BOMF”), an organization located in 13 cities across the U.S. BOMF uses running to connect street residents (i.e., homeless individuals) with employers willing to hire transitional employees (i.e., Marriott, etc.). By participating in early morning runs for a set time, the street residents earn their way into transitional training. LA’s BOMF chapter is based out of the Union Rescue Mission on skid row. Chicago’s chapter helps residents who have been recently released from prison to transition back into the workforce. Phil is a volunteer with the LA Skid Row group.
