Leech Tishman Litigation Partner Heather S. Heidelbaugh Raises $3,500 for 2021 ALS Association Western PA Chapter CEO Soak
PITTSBURGH, PA – August 23, 2021 – On Thursday, August 12, 2021, Leech Tishman Litigation Partner Heather S. Heidelbaugh participated in the 2021 ALS Association Western Pennsylvania Chapter CEO Soak at PPG Fountain in Pittsburgh, PA, raising $3,500 to support patient care, advocacy, and research for the local ALS community.
In its 5th year, the ALS Association Western Pennsylvania Chapter’s CEO Soak is a “dressed up” version of the Ice Bucket Challenge, engaging local corporate leadership to “get soaked” while raising money and awareness to benefit over 350 western Pennsylvanian families currently living with ALS. During this year’s event, 50 area business leaders and executives came together to raise over $242,000 for this great cause. Funds raised during the event provide medical equipment, financial support, and more to families living with ALS.
Heidelbaugh is a Partner with Leech Tishman and a member of the Litigation Practice Group, where she co-leads the Commercial Litigation Group, the Defamation, Libel & Slander Group, and the Product Liability Defense Group. She also co-leads the Government Relations Group. An experienced trial lawyer, Heidelbaugh is based in Leech Tishman’s Pittsburgh office and has handled a wide variety of litigation matters for businesses and individuals. Heidelbaugh is a member of the Academy of Trial Lawyers and the Litigation Counsel of America, a national legal honorary society.
Congratulations on your fundraising efforts, Heather!
ABOUT ALS
Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) is a progressive neurodegenerative disease that afflicts approximately 16,000 people in the United States and a comparable number of patients in Europe. Approximately 5,000 new cases of ALS are diagnosed each year in the United States. The average life expectancy of an ALS patient is approximately three to five years after diagnosis and only approximately 10 percent of patients survive for more than 10 years. Death is usually due to respiratory failure because of diminished strength in the skeletal muscles responsible for breathing. Few treatment options exist for these patients, resulting in a high unmet need for new therapies to address functional deficits and disease progression.
