PASADENA, CA – May 19, 2016 – Leech Tishman is pleased to announce that firm partner Danton K. Mak has been selected as the 2016 recipient of the Pacific Trade & Cultural Alliance (PTCA) Best Professional Award. Danton will receive the award during the PCTA’s 2016 Diversity Visionary Awards, scheduled to take place on May 21, 2016, at the South Coast Plaza.
The Diversity Visionary Awards is a celebration that brings together multi-cultural organizations and supporters to honor and celebrate diversity and recognize individuals for their work in diverse communities. The 2016 awards will be held in May, commemorating Asian Pacific Heritage Month.
Danton is a Partner in the Intellectual Property Group at Leech Tishman. He is experienced in industry, management and the law, and he focuses his practice on in all aspects of intellectual property. Danton is the General Counsel and current President of the Hong Kong Association of Southern California (HKASC), one of the community sponsors of this year’s Diversity Visionary Awards.
Danton is also the current Vice President for the American International Cultural Exchange Foundation, and the founder of the charity Givemore.org. Born and raised in Hong Kong, Danton’s insight, knowledge, experience and contacts throughout the U.S. and the Far East have proven invaluable to clients seeking to establish ventures or business operations at home or abroad. Danton is recognized as one of the foremost Chinese-speaking patent attorneys in the U.S.
Danton possesses a technical background in chemical engineering. He was previously a water treatment engineer for Nalco Chemical Company in Illinois. In addition, he has worked in refineries, petrochemical plants, steel mills, power stations and coal processing plants. Danton also has substantial marketing and management experience. He ran a steel trading and construction contracting company in Hong Kong before he became a lawyer.
