Leech Tishman Partner Michael H. Sampson Quoted in MJBizDaily Article

Posted on August 4, 2021

Leech Tishman’s Cannabis Industry Group Partner, Michael H. Sampson was quoted in the August 2021 Issue of MJBizDaily in an article entitled, “Steering Clear of Spam.”

New marijuana retailers looking to connect with consumers might inadvertently violate federal law by using robocalls or text messages if they don’t first ask for recipient’s permission.

The 1991 Telephone Consumer Protection Act (TCPA) prohibits private companies from using unsolicited text messages or calls to advertise to consumers. TCPA cases involving marijuana businesses have proliferated since 2018.

Mike discusses this issue in more depth in the article, available here.
