PITTSBURGH, PA – June 15, 2021 – Leech Tishman partners Steven D. Irwin (Employment & Labor), and Francesca M. Schiavone (Corporate) recently represented hometown hero Charlie Batch in connection with Mr. Batch’s just-announced agreement to serve on Hemp Synergistics Advisory Board. Hemp Synergistics is a Leetsdale, Pennsylvania-based biotech company dedicated to transforming the way manufacturers use hemp-derived cannabinoid-based formulations. Leech Tishman also assisted Mr. Batch, a Homestead, PA native, in the formation of a new entity to facilitate this exciting partnership.
A former Pittsburgh Steeler and Detroit Lion quarterback, Mr. Batch has a keen interest in sports medicine and research, serving as Player Advisor on the Football Players Health Study at Harvard University and as an Advisory Council Member for the University of Pittsburgh Brain Institute. After his National Football League (NFL) career, which spanned 15 years and two Super Bowl victories, Mr. Batch, in retirement, continues to be a respected strategist in the NFL, providing game-day commentary for Steelers broadcasts and several national media outlets. He also serves as Senior Captain for The Trust Powered by the National Football League Players Association (NFLPA), an initiative that Mr. Batch helped negotiate in 2011 with NFL team owners. Mr. Batch helps former players achieve their dreams after football as a Transition Consultant for the NFL. He also runs the Best of the Batch Foundation, creating communities where all kids and families are equipped with the tools they need to build their own best futures.
More recently, Mr. Batch has turned his focus to hemp and the state-compliant cannabis industry, collaborating with Leech Tishman as he explores various opportunities.
