PITTSBURGH, PA – April 5, 2022 – Leech Tishman is pleased to announce the addition of a new attorney to the firm, Michelle A. Ross. Ross joins the firm as Counsel in the Estates & Trusts Practice Group. Ross is based in the Pittsburgh office, where she focuses her practice on estates and trusts planning and administration, elder law and guardianships, Orphans’ Court litigation, and municipal law. Ross is also a member of the Litigation and Tax Practice Groups.
During the course of her career, Ross has tried cases regarding power of attorney accountings and will contests. She has extensive experience in elder law with crisis Medicaid planning and with obtaining emergency, plenary, and limited guardianship over an incapacitated individual, and modifying or terminating the guardianship status upon a change in condition. Ross served as corporate counsel for a non-profit corporate fiduciary that provides guardianship services and management of special needs and pooled trusts for disabled individuals. She has additionally served as solicitor for various townships, boroughs, schools, and zoning hearing boards.
In addition to litigation, Ross assists numerous families with their estate planning needs by preparing wills and living wills, financial and healthcare powers of attorney, and trusts (including special needs, revocable, irrevocable, and testamentary), as well as by obtaining medical assistance and social security benefits for those in need. Ross has extensive knowledge of the trust and estate administration process, often navigating probate channels on behalf of her clients by completing all procedural steps to open and close an estate, including preparation of the inheritance tax return and presenting final accounts in audit.
Ross has previous experience serving as an assistant public defender in Beaver County and has worked at various firms throughout Pittsburgh practicing in elder law, estates and trusts, Orphans’ Court litigation, personal injury defense and general civil litigation, workers’ compensation defense, family law, and municipal and school law. She also ran a successful campaign for a sitting judge in the Court of Common Pleas of Beaver County.
“It is our pleasure to welcome Michelle to the firm,” said Pete A. Fuscaldo, Leech Tishman’s managing partner. “Michelle’s depth of experience in complex estate planning, estate litigation, and guardianships will be a great benefit to our estates & trusts tams and the many clients they serve.”
