STATE COLLEGE, PA – This year’s attendees to the Society [on the] Rocks Reception will include a guest from Leech Tishman’s State College Office – a Norway Spruce Tree!
New York City’s Rockefeller Center announced that this year’s Rockefeller Christmas Tree is currently rooted in State College, PA. The height and owner of the tree have not yet been announced, but photos from The Rockefeller Center’s Twitter show a glimpse of Beaver Stadium in the background.
On Thursday, Nov. 9 the Norway Spruce will be cut and transported 239 miles to New York City, arriving on Nov. 11 at Rockefeller Center.
After being decorated with more than 50,000 multi-colored LED lights and a Swarovski star on top, the tree lighting ceremony will be held in Rockefeller Plaza on November 29.
This State College native will remain on display until Jan. 7, 2018.
After the tree is taken down, it will be turned into lumber and donated to Habitat for Humanity to help build homes.
