PITTSBURGH, PA –March 8, 2018- Leech Tishman is proud to announce that firm attorney Francesca M. Schiavone recently assisted a Claysville, PA trucking company in obtaining a Women’s Business Enterprise (“WBE”) Certification from the Women’s Business Enterprise National Council (“WBENC”).

The WBE Certification provides the most widely recognized and respected certification in the United States for women’s business enterprises. The certification is accepted by over 700 major corporations and non-profit organizations, as well as many local, state, and Federal government agencies. WBE certification allows a company to expand its visibility among and access to decision makers in supplier diversity and procurement offices. Among many other benefits, WBE-certified businesses receive access to an electronic marketplace utilized by corporate members, government agencies and other WBEs to post RFPs and RFIs.

Certification criteria includes:

  • At least fifty-one percent ownership by a woman or women
  • Proof of effective management and control of the business
  • Documented evidence of contribution of capital and/or expertise
  • S. Citizenship or Legal Resident Alien status

WBENC maintains a stringent screening process under the guidelines of WBENC’s Standards & Procedures, which ensures that all firms are legitimately owned, managed, and controlled by women.
