Republican National Lawyers Association Honors Prominent Pittsburgh Litigation Attorney
PITTSBURGH, PA – Leech Tishman is pleased to announce that firm partner Heather S. Heidelbaugh has been selected as the 2015 recipient of the Republican National Lawyers Association (“RNLA”) Betty Murphy Award. Heather will receive the award during the RNLA’s 30th Annual National Policy Conference, scheduled to take place on March 20, 2015 at the National Press Club in Washington, DC.
Heather was selected by the RNLA for the Betty Murphy Award as she is an “unsung hero, member, trailblazer, with entrepreneurial spirit, a community service leader, and an organization builder who inspires others’ efforts.”
Heather is a Partner in the Litigation Practice Group at Leech Tishman and is an experienced lawyer who focuses her practice on commercial litigation matters. She is a well-known public commentator on issues related to politics, law and elections. Heather appears weekly on WQED-TV as a panelist on “4802,” a public affairs program in Pittsburgh and has been quoted by a number of national and local television shows and publications. She currently serves on the Allegheny County Council in the At-Large position and represents 1.2 million citizens.
Heather was a leader in the fight against the corrupt election practices of the Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now (better known as ACORN). She was the lead lawyer in the key 2008 lawsuit uncovering ACORN’s corrupt practices and testified about ACORN on Capitol Hill.
Heather has been involved with the RNLA since 2000. She founded the RNLA’s Pittsburgh Chapter. As the 2nd-longest serving member of the organization, she has served as RNLA Membership, Professional Services, and Election Education Vice Presidents. She was most recently RNLA’s national Co-Chair.
Heather has a long list of accomplishments outside of her advocacy for fair and clean elections. She was honored with the Allegheny County Bar Association’s Pro Bono Award for her work in forming a legal clinic for the homeless in Allegheny County and most recently as a Woman of Achievement by the District Attorney’s office in 2015. Heather is a Fellow of Litigation Counsel of America, a National Legal Honorary, and is a member of the Academy of Trial Lawyers.
“My involvement in both the RNLA and election law litigation have been an integral part of my career,” stated Heather. “It is such an honor to be recognized for an award that was founded in honor of a woman who was such a distinguished member of the Republican legal community.”
The RNLA is the national organization of Republican attorneys. The mission of the RNLA is to advance professionalism; open, fair and honest elections; career opportunity; and Republican ideals.
