Alexander J. Reyes is a Partner with Leech Tishman and Chair of the Corporate Practice Group. Alex is based in the Pittsburgh office, where he focuses his practice on corporate legal matters including mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures, securities, financings, general transactional matters, and corporate governance.
Alex is a skilled and knowledgeable leader with over 25 years of diverse legal and business experience including serving in executive management roles, practicing as in-house counsel and managing business units and corporate legal teams. With his corporate background, Alex also brings corporate executive management experience in capital budgeting, forecasting, financial reporting, strategic planning, and human resource/organizational restructurings.
Prior to joining Leech Tishman, Alex served as Vice President of the Land Department of CNX Resources Corporation (formerly CONSOL Energy Inc.), a publicly traded Pittsburgh-based producer of natural gas, and formerly coal, and a leading diversified energy company in the United States, where he was employed for the past 14 years. Alex has a depth of experience in the energy industry, specifically in oil & gas, midstream and coal.
As head of the Land Department, Alex provided strategic support to CNX’s Oil & Gas Operations team, overseeing 100+ employees and managing capital expenditures in excess of $160MM. He led the overall reorganization and restructuring of the Land Department.
Alex also held various positions in CNX’s Legal Department including serving as Associate General Counsel. While in the Legal Department, Alex acted as lead internal counsel on various coal asset acquisitions and divestitures ranging from $5M to $350M. He also directed legal department efforts for several significant strategic transactions for the company, including a pivotal Marcellus shale gas asset acquisition (stock and asset transaction) valued in excess of $3B. Alex was chosen by executive management to lead new corporate enterprises, including managing legal and corporate activities related to the newly entered Marcellus and Utica Shale joint ventures with a combined JV value over $4B.
Alex’s experience prior to CNX included a corporate practice at a large Pittsburgh law firm representing clients spanning across several other diverse industries, both public companies and closely-held businesses, including commercial real estate development, technology start-ups, and manufacturing.
