Azin Valafar is an Associate with Leech Tishman and a member of the Employment & Labor Practice Group. She is also a member of the Data Privacy & Cybersecurity Group and the Women/Minority-Owned Business Group, part of Leech Tishman’s Corporate Practice Group. Finally, she is a member of the Emerging Cyber Technologies Industry Group. Based in the Los Angeles office, Azin focuses her practice on labor and employment law, with an emphasis on business litigation.
In addition to advising clients on business and labor/employment-related disputes, Azin regularly handles complex litigation involving general liability matters and entertainment.
Azin is highly experienced in all aspects of trial preparation, drafting complaints, answers to complaints, demurrers, and motions in both state and federal court, including Daubert motion, motion for remand, motion to strike, anti-SLAPP motions, motions for summary judgment, motions for fees, motions in limine, and more. Azin is skilled in analyzing causes of action and potential defenses to claims under both federal and California law.
In the employment & labor area, Azin is well-versed in advising clients on all aspects of the employment relationship, from hiring through termination, including employment discrimination issues, workplace and sexual harassment, wrongful discharge claims, wage and hour issues, drafting and negotiating employment & independent contractor agreements, and preparation of employee handbooks.
Previously, Azin served as general counsel for various companies owning and operating franchise restaurants and gas stations. In addition, as a former business owner herself, Azin understands firsthand the legal concerns and the needs of a business.
