David V. Weicht
Partner
David V. Weicht is a Partner with Leech Tishman and Co-Chair of the Litigation Practice Group, where he leads the Appellate Group and the Shareholder/Equity Disputes Group, and also co-leads the Commercial Litigation Group. Dave is based in the Pittsburgh office, where he handles a wide variety of complex commercial litigation matters as an experienced litigator and across a wide range of industries for over 30 years. Dave is also a member of the Leech Tishman Management Committee and serves as General Counsel for the Firm.
David’s practice includes representation of both businesses and individuals in disputes involving complex contract issues, corporate ownership, business acquisitions, oil and gas, bankruptcy, estates and trusts, insurance coverage, real estate and civil rights.
In addition to trial experience, David has significant experience in state and federal appellate courts. He has briefed and argued appeals before the Third Circuit Court of Appeals, the Pennsylvania Supreme Court, the Pennsylvania Superior Court and the Pennsylvania Commonwealth Court.
Some of David’s recent representative litigations include:
- Defended selling shareholder against claims for fraud and breach of contract asserted by private equity buyer.
- Had custodian appointed over two privately held companies to protect interests of minority shareholder.
- Represented international oil and gas company in dispute with joint venture partner over payment of gathering fees.
- Defended golf agents in federal district court against claims for breach of contract and unjust enrichment arising out of an alleged oral agreement to share commissions.
- Defended non-profit personal care facility against claims asserted against it in Lehman Bros. bankruptcy.
- Argued in Pennsylvania Supreme Court on behalf of judgment holder in garnishment action against national bank.
- Represented international construction company in federal court act
ion against subcontractor arising out of letter of intent. - Represented minority owner of e-sports team in dispute over alleged forfeiture of ownership units.
- Represented golf television personality in arbitration defending against claims asserted by former agent.
- Briefed and argued multiple Third Circuit and Pennsylvania Superior Court appeals.
